I have recently given my young cousin some advice which I should truly take to heart as well. Any writer that I have ever had the pleasure of discussing writing with has told me that journals are essential. Journals are gold. You can put down dreams, story ideas, random thoughts, lifes' struggles and anything else that enters your mind at the time of writing. There is no need to worry about grammar and technique when you write in a journal, yet it is a wonderful place to practice without having to share with others.
My original intention for starting a blog was to use this space as a journal. However, upon reading what I have just written above it's obvious that this is not the place for my most random thoughts and private dreams. Therefore I believe I will start two journals. One online here, as a form of communicating my more structured thoughts and life stories. The other journal will be a handwritten (oh how old fashioned!) book kept way away from others' eyes.
I would love to hear about other journaling ideas and thoughts. As a mother of two toddler boys I find it difficult to force myself to sit down and write. However, when I finally do I'm really happy that I did!
ahhh! we've been waiting. your voice is like no other.
